Brisbane, Bacelor of Photography, and Features

Brisbane
As some of you who follow my journal may already know; I left cold and snowy Norway about five months ago to start a Bacelor of Photography in warm and sunny Australia. I'm living in a suburb called Upper Mount Gravatt, which is located just outside the city of Brisbane. There's a lot of international students living here, including a couple of Norwegians. I've got a pool, a sauna, a gym and a tennis court right utside my door. It's fantastic. Brisbane is the biggest city I've ever been to, with a bit more than 2.000.000 people. Norway, the entire country, has about 5.000.000.


Bachelor of Photography
Doing a Bachelor of Photography is a lot of hard work. You've got several assignments every week and you have to be creative and original every step of the way. It does not help much either when you're an international student and your English isn't the best, you don't know anybody and everything is unfamiliar and unknown. But it's a lot of fun as well. I feel like I'm learning something new every day and I look forward to every assignment even if some of them are really annoying or crappy.

I've made lots of new friends here who are doing the Bachelor of Photography as well, and I thought I'd share some of their work with you as well as some of the suff that I've done since I moved here.

20k, news, other news, other other news, and more!

That's right
So... it's been more than two years since my last journal entry, and in those two years I've made it from 10.000 to 20.000 pageviews. And it's all thanks to you guys.
This last month has been completely insane. I've had more pageviews in one month than I normally do in four. It is also thanks to you guys that my deviations have been viewed almost 100.000 times, and that my most viewed deviation has been seen 20.000 times. I am truely thankful.


In other news
If everything goes according to plan I'll be moving from cold and snowy Norway to warm and sunny Australia in just a couple of months, where I plan to take my Bachelor Of Photography. I've been offered a place at RMIT and Griffith University, and I've accepted the offer from Griffith. All I'm waiting for now is for Griffith to send me a letter that they've accepted my acception of their offer (yea, it makes no sense to me either).


In other other news
I'm really looking forward to Christmas this year. REALLY REALLY. I've been working my ass off this last month and it's only half tax in December, so I should be getting a HUUUGE pay check. And this means I'll be buying the biggest and meanest MacBook Pro out there as a christmas present for myself.
Another reason why I'm really looking forward to Christmas this year, REALLY REALLY, is that my very bestest and awesomest friend is coming all the way from Gran Canaria to see me. This Christmas is gonna be the best one yet.

It's been a while

So again it's been a while since I last updated my journal.
There's just been so much to do lately.
Christmas is closing in on us and that means a whole lot to do at work.
Some of you may also know that I've been doing some stuff for a local model agency called Nostalgia.
This week only I've had one photo shoot, went to one fashion show, and one party to celebrate Nostalgia's republished website with their new design.
That's a lot for someone who's not really in the business.
I also might have mentioned in an earlier journal that I've started giving drum lessons as well, and if not, I've started giving drum lessons as well.
All these things combined with being in a studio recording a demo with my band, hanging out with friends, seeing my family, shopping for Christmas presents and living each day as if it was my last, it just eats a lot of time.

If you have read my previous journal you allready know that just a few days ago I got to do a photo shoot with Linn Naimak, Miss Norway 2002.

I had never done a single portrait photograph before and as you can imagine, I was quite the nervous man.
Being my first session and all, I think it went pretty well, but never having done this before I did not really have very much equipment for this type of photography.
I had no studio to shoot in, no softboxes, no light tents, no external flash, no filters...
What I had was an empty corner in an old house, some downilghts in the roof and my camera with a built-in flash.
With poor light conditions and what little knowledge I had, I did my best to get a few edible shots.
This was a bit of a challenge for the both of us, because I had no idea what I was doing, and she was mostly a cat walk model and not so used to doing portraits.
But she was a very sweet and kind person, and she knew a couple af good poses, so I did not really have to worry about that.
